City Walk Phase 2 in Dubai extends the success of one of the city’s most distinctive lifestyle destinations, bringing together retail, leisure, and public space in a setting defined by intimacy and human scale.
Spanning 85,700 m², the scheme consists of 13 low-rise buildings, ranging from G+1 to G+3, arranged around landscaped streets and a vibrant central plaza. At its heart lies an open-air entertainment space, dramatically sheltered by a geo-diagrid structure, designed as a focal point for community gatherings and cultural events. HKR were appointed to lead the detailed design, construction documentation, and site supervision stages, ensuring seamless delivery across all architectural, interior, and façade elements. The result is an urban district where local character and international ambition converge: a pedestrian oriented neighbourhood that frames views of the Burj Khalifa while creating a new benchmark for mixed-use development in Dubai.
Urban Design & Placemaking
The guiding principle of City Walk Phase 2 was to extend Dubai’s reputation for destination-led urban experiences, while maintaining a sense of accessibility and scale. Thirteen buildingsform a connected network of retail, dining, and leisure opportunities, interwoven with landscaped pedestrian streets. Public amenities, from prayer rooms to a mosque, areintegrated into the masterplan, ensuring the district functions as a genuine community hub as well as a commercial address. The central open-air entertainment space, capped by its distinctive diagrid canopy, provides a year-round venue for cultural programming, reinforcing the development’s role as both marketplace and meeting place.
Delivery & Technical Excellence
HKR’s involvement across detailed design, construction documentation, and on-site supervision ensured architectural intent was maintained through to delivery. The practice’s site team coordinated directly with contractors and subcontractors, managing approvals for shop drawings, materials, and façade systems. This close collaboration safeguarded quality and design consistency across the 77,356 m² of gross floor area. The result is a finely executed environment where design ambition is matched by build quality, a place that balances high-end retail with everyday public life, and demonstrates how human-scaled design can thrive within the evolving fabric of Dubai.
