The former Dublin office of HKR Architects, completed in 2008, is an award-winning sustainable project.
Located at 5 Schoolhouse Lane, it won the FEMB Office of the Year Award in 2004. The redevelopment transformed a low-grade 1970s office into a bright, efficient third-generation design studio.
The building was opened up with large windows, removing the front and rear facades, and creating a double-height library space in the center. Two additional floors were added, with stepped-back, fully glazed upper floors to reduce visual impact.
The front façade features a large window that connects the reception area with the street, while timber and glass detail the route to public meeting rooms, which overlook the rear courtyard garden.
